I'm a traveling wedding and elopement photographer based in Boulder, Colorado. I capture real moments with bright, bold, natural images. My goal is to make your wedding day the best it can be and ensure that you have a meaningful, memorable, FUN wedding day that is the start of a lifelong adventure.
Some love stories are destined for adventure, and that perfectly describes Natalie and Anton! Their elopement in the Dolomites captured their love for each other, and their passion for for adventure.
Anton and Natalie came to the Dolomites for their 5-year vow renewal. Having originally honeymooned in these mountains, it was only fitting that they returned for an intimate, self-solemnized elopement, just the two of them, surrounded by the landscape that hold so much meaning to them.
Anton and Natalie are elopement photographers themselves, primarily based out of New England (their colorful work is stunning, and you can check it out here). We had been internet friends for years, and I was beyond excited when they asked me if I would consider photographing their elopement in the Dolomites. I instantly said YES. It was the biggest joy and honor to travel with them to Italy for their magical elopement, and it makes me so happy to have these two wonderful people as friends.
In Natalie’s words, “We met in 2017 and it was love at first adventure! Our first date was winter hiking in the White Mountains together. A few months later we found ourselves out in Utah, moving in together, and getting engaged in fall 2018.”
In 2019, they were married at their beloved home in New Hampshire. While a ton of fun, it wasn’t the adventure they were seeking for their special day. The adventure they longed for was instead found on their honeymoon to the Dolomites, and had been dreaming of a vow renewal there ever since. Five years later, they returned to the Dolomites to make that dream a reality!
The Italian Dolomites offer one of the most spectacular backdrops in the world for an elopement. Towering limestone peaks, serene alpine lakes, and lush green meadows create a dreamlike setting that feels both intimate and awe-inspiring. Whether you hike to a secluded vista, ride a gondola to a panoramic overlook, or stop for a snack at one of many alpine huts, the options (and views) are endless.
I live in Colorado and see mountains all the time, but the Dolomites blew me away. They’re so dramatic, with huge peaks rising straight out of green valleys. The alpine culture surrounding the mountains is super unique too. You can easily take a gondola up to start your hike, and there are alpine huts all over the place where you can stop for a snack, full meal, beverage, or even to spend the night!
The Dolomites are if you’re looking for an experience that is both deeply personal and visually breathtaking. With a mix of charming mountain huts, rich cultural heritage, and jaw-dropping landscapes, eloping here is an unforgettable expereience.
Here’s what Anton and Natalie’s elopement looked like!
Anton and Natalie’s day began at the beautiful Hotel Granbaita Dolomiti in Selva di Val Gardena. This hotel was stunning, and Anton and Natalie raved about their expereince here. I arrived around noon to capture the simple, intentional moments as Natalie and Anton got ready for the day.
Natalie and Anton opted for a first look at the top of the Dantercepies lift. I took the lift up with Natalie, and Anton was already waiting for us in a meadow. The stunning backdrop of jagged peaks and rolling green meadows made the moment even more surreal.
After their first look, we continued on and hiked to the spot where they would say their vows. Anton and Natalie had done some scouting the days before, and found a spot that they loved for their vow exchange. Surrounded by the jagged peaks, they exchanged prvate vows togegther.
We hiked back to the lift and rode back down to the base together. Then we headed over to a charming alpine hut for a quick snack before sunset photos. We all shared traditional dumplings, one of the signature dishes of the region. The owner’s children were fascinated by Natalie’s dress, and asked to take photos with her!
As the sun got lower in the sky, we made our way to a breathtaking overlook for sunset photos. One of Anton and Natalie’s favorite types of photos is what they call “tiny people in big landscapes”. The landscapes were massive, and we all felt tiny! The light bathed the peaks in a golden hue, and the vastness of the Dolomites was just incredible.
Natalie and Anton’s elopement wasn’t just about saying vows; it was about reclaiming the experience they had always dreamed of. It was about being fully present with each other, celebrating their love in the most authentic way possible.
Anton and Natalie, THANK YOU for choosing me to travel across the world and document such a special experience. This was a dream of a day and I will never get over it. I’m so thankfful to know you both!
