Leah and Josh’s wedding at Red Cliffs Lodge in Moab was such a fun day of colorful, unique details and epic desert views. The day didn’t go as originally planned, but it was an incredible day anyway.

Leah and Josh met during COVID, when Leah was driving back to Minnesota from Arizona after working on her PhD. She stopped in Colorado to visit a friend, who happened to be giving Josh and his friends pandemic haircuts. In their words, “Leah never really left Colorado after that”.
For their first official date, Josh flew to Minnesota and joined Leah on a four-day backpacking trip along the Superior Hiking Trail.
Their love of the outdoors and shared sense of adventure continued to grow, and even though they’re not originally from Moab, the desert holds a special place in their hearts. Josh grew up camping and hiking in the area, and Leah spent a lot of her time in grad school exploring the desert. They wanted a celebration that honored those roots, so they brought their friends and family together in the canyon country for a day that truly reflected them.

Leah and Josh got ready together at Red Cliffs Lodge. Everyone hung out together and shared lattes with the epic views all around. Then we headed into Castle Valley for an off-site hike and adventure photos in the iconic red rock landscape.
Then an unexpected downpour rolled in.
It poured. For HOURS.
But with incredible flexibility from everyone, we shifted the timeline, and moved cocktail hour inside before the ceremony to wait out the storm. The skies eventually cleared, and the ceremony took place on the lawn overlooking the river, with Josh’s dad playing the bagpipes to begin. A friend officiated their casual, heartfelt vows as canyon walls towered in the background.
Dinner was served buffet-style, followed by toasts, first dances, and a night of dancing under the desert sky. Leah and Josh closed out the evening surrounded by laughter, music, and the natural beauty that brought them together.
