I know the title of this post says Boulder Colorado “elopement”, but this is actually a really special vow renewal in the mountains of Colorado. Chrissi and Jon renewed their vows at this mountain lake in Colorado for their 10-year anniversary. It was such a beautiful night that I was honored to be part of.

Their Story

Chrissi and Jon’s story is inspiring to me. Even though they came all the way from Miami, Florida, they had been to Colorado before and hiked a 14er together. A 14er is a mountain that is over 14,000 feet tall, and it’s no easy hike. Chrissi told me how the 14er experience turned into an analogy for their marriage. In her words-

“One of us waited, we grabbed hands and said “let’s walk into the summit together.” The hike was a beautiful analogy of our marriage and all the times we wanted to give up and almost did, but somehow kept going, because of a kind word from a friend or family member, and by the grace of God every time. We had tears in our eyes as this analogy hit us the same way without us even saying it to each other. The view felt like such a victory, if you don’t quit, you win!”

I love this analogy so much.

Boulder Colorado Elopement

For their vow renewal, they stood on the shore of this lake together, just the two of them. They read new vows that they wrote to each other, prayed, and sang a song. Then we took photos around the lake and ended the evening with a gorgeous sunset in one direction and a rainbow in the other.
