What a year. 2021 was a really big year for me with so many changes and transitions. There were a lot of really hard things and a lot of really good things. Just in 2021-

My partner moved to Colorado
I spent 8 weeks in Colorado over the summer
I left my full-time job with Delaware State Parks
I took a new job at a marketing agency
I moved to Colorado and moved in withe my partner
I started to transition my photography business to Colorado
I quit that job at the marketing agency
I officially went full-time with my photography business

In between all of that, I photographed 33 photography projects which included weddings, elopements, engagements, and commercial work. I was contracted to do a photoshoot for The North Face (you can see that shoot here). I had the opportunity to photograph elopements in Sedona, Arizona and Grand Teton National Park. To say it’s been a lot is an understatement.

Now that we’re a little bit into 2022, I feel good, and really excited for what’s to come this year. Colorado has so much to explore, and I can’t wait to get to know this state really, really well. The couples that I get to work with this year are amazing (as always) and I’m excited to be able to really focus on my business full-time for the first time.

2021 was a great year, but it was also really hard. I’m so thankful for everyone I worked with this year and everyone I have ever taken a photograph of. You all are the reason I was able to go full-time with my business. Here are some highlights from this year!

Goals for 2022

I haven’t really set or published goals before, but I want to this year.

Get to know Colorado really well: I want to prioritize personal adventures this year so that I can get to know this state really well. I want to be familiar with the trails, the regions, the parks, and how the light and landscape changes throughout the seasons.
Serve my clients even better: I want to be really good at serving my clients well. I have some ideas for this year for how to create more resources, offer more options, and provide an even better client experience.
Find a balance: This is my first time truly working for myself full-time. I want to work on finding a balance between work, play, relationships, solo time, and everything else in life. I know a perfect balance doesn’t really exist, but I want to find what works for me.
Have fun with social media: I want social media to be a fun outlet for me, not just a marketing tool. I want to use it strategically, but also in a way that is fun and enjoyable for me. This includes connecting with people and having a community on social media.
Make friends: I gotta make some friends in Colorado! I already have some. But I also want to get to know more photographers and industry professionals in the area.

Personal Adventures from 2021

Outside of work, I did have a lot of fun personal adventures. I spent a lot of time traveling between Colorado and Delaware, but I also got to do a ton of fun things like hiking, camping, kayaking, climbing, and skiing. I traveled to Florida, Arizona, Albuquerque, and even went to Puerto Rico for a solo trip.
