Sydney and Scott are finally married! They had a boho, waterfront wedding at the Mimosa Barn in Cape Charles, Virginia. Their date got pushed back a year due to COVID, so their wedding was a long time coming!
Sydney and Scott met while attending Virginia Tech in 2014. She was a freshman and he was a sophomore. They started dating shortly after meeting, and decided to move-in together after about two years. Once they moved-in together, they adopted our first dog, Brody. After graduation, they moved to Nashville, Tennessee for a change, but intend to move back closer to family in Virginia eventually. Then they adopted their second pup, Gunner. On Thanksgiving of 2019, Scott took Sydney on a vacation in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. He popped the question while on the Gatlinburg Skywalk, up above the beautiful Smoky Mountains. In Sydney’s words “WE ARE BEYOND READY TO GET MARRIED!!”
Sydney really wanted a wedding that focused on the beauty of the venue. Her father was a waterman, so she grew up on the Chesapeake Bay. She always new she wanted a waterfront wedding. Mimosa Barn was the perfect venue because the barn is located right next to a creek that comes off the Chesapeake Bay.
I loved Sydney and Scott’s wedding. Everything was so intentional and well planned. Like Sydney, I also love the Chesapeake Bay, and I really liked that Sydney had such a personal connection to the landscape. Here are some highlights from their wedding day!
Sydney did a first look with her dad! He used to be a waterman, which is why Sydney wanted a venue that was on the water. Sydney wore a necklace with a waterman’s boat on it and her dad wore a tie with a matching boat pattern.
Sydney and Scott wrote each other letters to read before the ceremony. Here is Scott’s reaction to Sydney’s letter!
