University of Notre Dame Basilica Wedding | Katie + Aaron

Katie and Aaron were married in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Due to COVID-19, they had to modify their wedding plans a bit, but their wedding day was beautiful nonetheless.

Their Story

Aaron and Katie met in college. They were both mechanical engineering majors at the University of Notre Dame and became friends since they had similar class schedules.

In Katie’s words, “There’s a saying about dating when you’re a female engineer – “The odds are good, but the goods are odd,” – which in our case is absolutely false. Anyone who meets Aaron is captured by his charming personality and genuine care that makes you feel like the most important person in the world. Needless to say, I fell in love with him. Our random conversations walking from Calc 3 to Physics 2 are still some of my favorites memories from college. Aaron, on the other hand, took a little more convincing…but persistence (and a little bribery with baked goods) pays off! We started dating junior of college and four years later, Aaron proposed while we were back on campus for a football game. Best day with my best friend at the best place in the world.”

They chose to get married at Notre Dame because it is where they met and the campus is such a special place that they both love.

Fun fact: I also went to the University of Notre Dame, and Katie and I were friends in college! We actually lived in the same dorm for all four years.
